December 5
This was the last class and we finished all of the web 2.0. this was a very informative class i learned about a lot of new technology that can help me in the classroom.
November 28
We learned how to use the disability lab at temple. The lab was amazing there are so many programs out there to help assist disabled individuals. There was a video of one lady who could not talk or move but she was able to create a computer program that she could move her jaw and it would trigger the computer to type what she wanted. The program was amazing and i was glad to see it because i did not know such programs exist.
November 21
Podcasting! this was my favorite activity we did. This week we learned how to use garage band to make a podcast, we also picked groups to work on the podcast. in my group we did our podcast on how to use an iPhone. This was a lot of fun for me because i used garage band in the past and i felt pretty comfortable using it to do the project.
November 7
We did not have class october 31 but today we talked about the brochure and newsletter assignment more thoroughly so students who did not complete it yet could take some time to finish it. We also talked about the website a little more. This class felt different because we were off last week.
Monday October 24
Today we went over creating a website using google sites. The website will be used as classroom website so that students in the class can always refer to the site for content related to the class. The website project is interesting because it allows you to learn how to create a website while doing the required class content.
Monday October 17
Today desktop publishing was introduced. We had to create a newsletter and brochure to be able to use it in our classroom to effectively distribute content and information to our students. This activity was somewhat of a challenge for me because i am not the most creative student in the class. I do see the benefit in using a class newsletter or brochure to promote events and activities because it is a way to keep the parents and teachers always on the same page with their children's progress.
october 10
last week we talked about assessments formative and summative assessments. I prefer formative assessments because they measure what you recently learned. An example of a formative assessment is a test at the end of the unit or a short quiz after you taught a lesson. summative assessments in my opinion are not the most successful because you are expecting your students to remember everything the learned in class or school that year and put it out during a final or a state test. Summative assessments cause for a lot of stress and frustration because students frantically try to study and cram in all of the content from the year.
Monday october 3
We worked on our spreadsheet assignment which i thoroughly enjoyed because it gave me the opportunity to learn excel a little better. Doing the spreadsheet activity was fun for me because i was able to manipulate numbers in different categories and see how it effects the entire class average or scale. This class was very informative for me.
Monday Sept 26
We learned about how import an it is to make sure your material and content you present to your class are in compliance with fair use. we looked at several examples in class to try and determine whether the material the teacher used in class was in compliance with fair use. This topic was very interesting to me because i always assumed that as a teacher you don't have to worry about copyright laws because the overall purpose of redistributing or showing material was for an educational gain.

Monday sep 19
In class last monday we talked a lot about fair use and different copyright laws. this discussion was very useful to me because i find myself on the verge of certain copyright infringement situations quite frequently and i feel that our talk about what is fair use and what is not will really help me as i begin to start creating lesson plans and different activities to not break any of those rules. We also talked about creating a spreadsheet that can be used as a grade book, I am excited to learn more about that so it can be used in my classroom.

Recap Of Sept 12 class
The most important skill that one needs to possess in my opinon is a sound Academic foundation. In light of the new technology era many people stress that the proficiency in today's modern technology is extremely important. I think that it is important for individuals living in this 21 century to be proficient in technology, but i also believe that without a solid academic foundation the use and extent of that technology can be somewhat limited. Imagine if some one was amazing with the use of the internet, but could only read and comprehend on a 2nd grade reading level there would be a lot of unfamiliar words he/she would come across when trying to read certain articles.

21st century schools
The schools of ten years ago are much different than the schools of today. Today a classroom could look like a room filled with chairs in a circle ready to discuss and find solutions for any given topic. The schools of today are no long teacher focused but rather student centered. In some schools you may find in a classroom different learning centers that students can excel in particular areas. Schools of twenty years ago were not as open to change an innovation as schools are today. Alot of schools of today give the students the opportunity to be able to in someways control and expand their learning. Schools of today have more resources such as computer labs the internet, willingness to allow students to collaborate on certain assignments instead of working alone and in solitude. I personally like the schools of today because i feel like the sky is the limit. I do not remember what schools were like twenty plus years ago but I am sure they were much different than what they are today.
